COURSE CONTENT

What will you Learn?

Absolute

Beginners

(Level I)

Absolute beginners; In this level students are introduced to the piano instrument, they learn how to sit at the piano, finger numbers, name of the notes on the piano, right and left hand position, note durations, rhythm, the treble clef, the bass clef, the grand staff, time signature, key signature, sharps, flats, naturals, octaves, intervals, major and minor triads. Musical terms such as crescendo, diminuendo, fermata, legato, staccato, ties, and slurs, Da Capo and Coda sign.

Techniques

Students will start working on finger independence by learning to play Schmitt finger exercises one to twenty.

Repertoire

At the end of this course students will be able to play:

  • The Cuckoo 

  • Beautiful Brown Eyes,

  • Money Can’t Buy Everything  

  • Café Vienna

  • Lullaby

Late

Beginners

(Level II)

In this level students keep on exploring the versatility of the piano by learning about scales, chord progression, seventh chords, Blues, arpeggio, cadence, the circle of fifths.

Techniques

The student will start building strength in their fingers by learning all major scales including sharps and flats, chords, cadences and arpeggios from those scales, and the first five exercises of the Hannon Virtuoso pianist in sixty exercises book.

Repertoire

By the end of this course students will learn to play:

The Ballad of Gilligan’s Isle

Early

Intermediate

(Level III)

In this level, students will start building a more challenging repertoire with a solid foundation of classical music from. They will learn pieces from the great composers of the fathers of classical music. This level focuses on strengthening the fingers, and techniques to start memorizing longer pieces.

Techniques

Students will keep on strengthening their fingers by learning all minor scales including sharps and flats, chords, cadences, and arpeggios from those scales, and exercises 6-10 from the Hannon Virtuoso pianist in sixty exercises book.

Repertoire

Students will learn to play:

  • Musette in D major from the Notebook of Anna Magdalena Bach

  • Carnival by Francois Couperin 

  • La Pastorale By Friedrich Burgmuller

  • Menuett G dur BWV.Anh.114

  • Solfeggio by CPE Bach

Late

Intermediate

(Level IV)

Students will start leaning professional-level classical pieces by Composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Clementi.

Techniques

Students will start to focus on more challenging techniques by learning exercises  11 to 20 from Hannon Virtuoso Piano in sixty exercises.

Repertoire

Students will learn to play;

  • Bach Invention No 8

  • Fur Elise By Beethoven

  • Sonatina By Muzio Clementi

  • Mozart Piano Sonata No.15 K545 1st movement

  • Beethoven Moonlight Sonata 1st movement

Early

Advanced

(Level V)

The student keeps on building their professional classical repertoire by learning pieces by Debussy, Beethoven,  Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Schubert.

Techniques

Students will continue learning Hanno exercises 21-30

Repertoire

Students will learn to play:

  • Turkish March by Mozart

  • Claire de Lune by C.A Debussy

  • Marcia alla Turca by Beethoven

  • Impromptu Op 90-2 by F.P Schubert

  • Reverie by C.A Debussy

Advanced

Course

(Level VI)

Students will challenge themselves by exploring the most technical and advanced  pieces by two  of the greatest composers ever existed F.F Chopin and Tchaikovsky.

Techniques

Students will learn to play exercises 31 to 38.

Repertoire

Students will focus on the challenging composition ttec

  • Fantaisie-Impromptu By F.F Chopin

  • Etude Op. 10-12 Revolutionary by F.F Chopin

  • Etude OP 10-3 Chanson de l’adieu by F.F Chopin

  • Tchaikovsky Concerto in B-flat minor
